Betawi Figures

Here I will only introduce the stores - Betawi figures from the Dutch colonial era until the present. Some of them now become legendary figures whose names are familiar to us, even used as a street in downtown Jakarta.

Mohammad Husni Thamrin.

 He is known as Betawi figures (from organization Kaoem Betawi) who first became a member of the People's Council in the Netherlands Indies (Volksraad), representing the group inlanders. Since 1935 he became a member of the Volksraad through Parindra. He is also one of the key figures in world football Indonesia, because he donated a total of 2000 guilders in 1932 to establish a soccer field exclusively for the people of the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia) native who was first in the area Petojo, Batavia (Jakarta).
His death was full of controversial political intrigue. Three days before his death, he was detained for no apparent reason. According to official reports, he committed suicide but there are suggestions that he was killed by prison officials. His body was buried in TPU Karet, Jakarta. At his funeral, more than 10,000 mourners escorted the then marched demanding self-determination and independence from the Netherlands.

 He was born in Kemayoran, Jakarta, March 5, 1939 - died 5 September 1995 at the age of 56 years. He is a versatile artists Betawi. 75 music albums and 53 films which he starredi is evidence of its seriousness in the field of art.
In the world of music, Bang Ben (as he often called) is an artist who contributed in developing the Betawi traditional art, especially art Gambang Kromong. Through the arts is also the name of Benyamin becoming more popular.
